Grace has been the outsourced communications provider for Vero Insurance over the past four years while it has been building its internal
capability and adapting to a new operating environment post the Canterbury Earthquakes, which put the insurance sector under the spotlight.

This has been a wide, varied role encompassing all aspects of strategy, issues management including around Vero’s major role in the earthquake response effort in Canterbury and latterly Kaikoura, Government relations including EQC reform, and thought leadership programmes.
 

To give an example, Grace facilitated the launch of a Deloitte report, commissioned by Vero, into the economic impacts of the earthquakes via a large stakeholder event in Christchurch. The event and supporting media campaign, which attracted widespread national broadcast and print media, called for a discussion on whether New Zealand has the right insurance model in the event of another natural disaster and positioned Vero as a leader in the market.
 

More recently we rolled out an integrated, multi-channel thought leadership programme to a national stakeholder audience – ‘From Risk to Reward’ – based on a major research programme which unpicked the drivers and barriers of business growth and success in New Zealand.

 

SOUTHERN SPARS

Olympic Innovation

New Zealand’s Southern Spars is known as being the best in the world at designing and manufacturing carbon fibre masts and rigging for the world’s fastest and most luxurious super yachts, as well as racing yachts like Team New Zealand.

  
But, when faced with an opportunity to apply that knowledge to a totally different category – a performance bike wheel – the results surprised the market and resulted in a breakthrough new design that helped Cycling NZ to achieve a new World Record and win medals at the Rio Olympics.
Grace negotiated its partnership with Cycling NZ for Southern and helped it to tell its story to the world via prime-time news and other owned and earned media.


Within 24 hours of running the story, the business had 20,000 new visits to its web site and major new briefs including in aviation and construction, leveraging its carbon fibre and manufacturing and design expertise, spear heading a whole new innovation arm of the great, world class New Zealand business.

 

GRIFFINS

Wiri Factory Investment

To celebrate Griffins’ $20 million investment in a bar-line extension at its Wiri factory, Grace co-ordinated a launch event with Prime Minister Rt Hon John Key, as well as supporting internal and external communications.


Following the sale of Griffins to a major international Philippines based food company, it was important to demonstrate commitment to New Zealand.  
 

The event, alongside feature news coverage in the New Zealand Herald, highlighted Griffin’s investment, market leadership and the inherent opportunity for growth in export markets.

 

ITM

Managing major change with franchise owners

ITM is a major player in the lucrative building supplies sector, with a national franchise network and significant retail and trade presence throughout the country. 

 

Currently in the number two market position, the company is leading a major change programme to increase profitability, performance and market share even further.  
 

A critical success factor is achieving support and buy-in from franchise owners on a wide range of areas including procurement, IT, marketing / brand, finance and property strategies.  
 

Grace worked closely with the CEO, Board and leadership team to develop communications strategies and implement programmes in support of the goals of the change programme, which included roadshows and shareholder meetings, briefing packs on key topics, and regular internal communications.

 

QRIOUS

Insight Through Data

Grace is helping Qrious - the big data analytics arm of Spark Ventures - to shape and articulate its story around the value of big data for business.
 

Our role has included advising on overall market positioning, messaging, media and business development.
 

We have also worked alongside key customers to create a series of video and printed testimonials to showcase key projects and the value that Qrious offers.
 

Privacy issues are an ongoing consideration in this market and Grace continues to provide advice on navigating these sensitivities.
